Easter Time Marketing Ideas

Easter is a religious holiday for Christians.  It's also known for the Easter bunny, egg hunts and family gatherings.  This year, Easter falls on Sunday, April 8, 2012.

A survey conducted by the American Bible Society and Barna Group found that 69% of U.S. adults celebrate Easter as a religious holiday.  Gallup polls consistently show that more than 60% of Americans say they'll go to church on Easter, compared with the 40% who say they regularly attend church services.  If you're promoting Easter, you may want to address the people who recognize Easter as a religious holiday.

Easter Marketing Ideas

Host an Easter Egg Hunt

Invite customers by sending an email, text message. Or post this on your Facebook Fan page.  Don't have one yet?

To attract kids and their parents to your store during Easter time

Rent an Easter Bunny costume and having someone dress up in that.

For entertainment, you might ask the local high school students who are in the school musical performing group or band to come.

Invite local boy or girl scout troops and/or sports teams.  All those groups have email lists to make it easy and inexpensive to get the word out.

Make it a school fundraiser and donate 10% of your profits for the day to the school.  Then ask them to help you get the word out to parents about your event.  They are then doing awareness-building advertising for you for free and you're building goodwill with the parent community.

You might consider having the Easter Egg hunts for the younger kids at a different time so they have a chance.  Or, set a limit of the number of eggs each child can collect.  Another option is to tell kids to find one yellow egg, one red egg, one orange egg, one blue egg.

Consider adding special prizes in some of the eggs for what you sell or offer at your store.

To attract adults during Easter time

Make the Easter egg hunt with relevant prizes for them.  If they come into your store, they can choose one egg and see what prize they win.  Fill some eggs with candy and others with prizes for things you sell or offer.

Promote products and services that you want to introduce customers to that most people may not be aware of or buy.

You can also avoid all the work and instead sponsor the local community or church Easter Egg Hunt

TIP:  If you do this, to get the most bang for your buck, go to the event and do something to interact with people there and get noticed.  You may want a banner with people there to do some type of demonstration.  They should be wearing t-shirts with your company name.  Host some type of appropriate entertainment like a magic show and get the event organizers to announce that your business is sponsoring this.  Then hand out flyers or 2-sided business cards with more information about your business or products after the show.
